Field Property Claims Adjuster - Missouri (Remote)

Assess residential property damage, investigate claims, and negotiate settlements for Farmers Insurance. Conduct virtual and on-site inspections throughout the Cape Girardeau area.

Description

  • Investigate policyholders’ residences through virtual and on-site inspections
  • Assess property damage, establish liability, determine loss severity, and negotiate equitable settlements
  • Use claims software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to document damage and prepare estimates in a paperless workflow
  • Identify and document potential subrogation opportunities
  • Refer suspected theft, fraud, and arson cases to the appropriate state and industry authorities
  • Work independently while making decisions that directly influence management results
  • Maintain a professional presence when representing the company in public
  • Collaborate with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other parties
  • Resolve claims by negotiating settlements with policyholders
  • Follow workplace safety and ergonomic requirements
  • Travel away from home for assigned catastrophe deployments
  • Handle other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service background, preferably in retail
  • Construction or insurance experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Comfort using smartphones and mobile applications
  • Willingness to learn insurance policies and property damage assessment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain bonding
  • Successful completion of a motor vehicle record check for finalists
  • Ability and willingness to climb ladders and work on rooftops several times daily
  • Ability and willingness to work in confined areas, including attics and crawlspaces
  • Minimum passing scores on all required claims training examinations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Residence in the Greater Cape Girardeau, Missouri area
  • Availability for one to three catastrophe deployments annually
  • Willingness to travel away from home for catastrophe deployments, typically for 23 days
