Engineer II, Relay Settings and System Protection – Qualus Remote

Qualus is seeking a remote Engineer II to develop protective relaying and relay control schemes for power infrastructure projects. The role includes relay studies and support for generation interconnections.

Description

  • Design, specify, calculate, and coordinate protective relaying and relay control schemes
  • Conduct modeling, short-circuit, and overstressed-breaker studies
  • Prepare protective relaying recommendations for proposed generation interconnections with clients’ electrical systems
  • Align relay-settings activities, initiatives, and processes with company policies, objectives, and client design standards
  • Present technical solutions to key customers
  • Address technical concerns in real time and provide clear, knowledgeable answers
  • Work with Qualus teams and individuals to develop and implement solutions that support Engineering Department objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus from an ABET-accredited institution
  • One to three years of experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings
  • Experience with ASPEN or CAPE software
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • Ability to determine the software needed to complete design work
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse support personnel
  • Strong commitment to customer service and client care
  • Self-motivated approach to work
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent document management and organizational abilities
