Description

  • Own medical content strategy and execution for sparsentan within Global Medical Affairs
  • Maintain scientific accuracy, compliance, and alignment with medical objectives across deliverables
  • Work with Global Medical Affairs and internal and external partners to turn evolving evidence into cohesive, timely communications
  • Shape the scientific narrative and overarching story arc
  • Coordinate with Publication and Congress & Medical Education teams on integrated communication plans
  • Create the strategic medical content plan and oversee content development supporting Medical Affairs priorities
  • Build communication campaigns for priority focus areas
  • Lead the Medical Content team and its meetings
  • Work with Medical Evidence Generation and Publication Leads on strategic content initiatives
  • Collaborate with Digital Engagement & Innovation on new digital content
  • Manage vendors and assess content for strategic fit
  • Advise on content development processes, best practices, medical-legal review, and external guidelines
  • Provide timely recommendations and decisions while managing competing priorities and trade-offs
  • Assess risks, develop mitigation approaches, and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Strengthen cross-functional alignment through clear communication, collaboration, and follow-through
  • Adjust plans and content as evidence and priorities change while preserving scientific integrity and product-strategy alignment

Requirements

  • PharmD or PhD in a related life sciences field
  • At least 10 years of experience in scientific communications and medical affairs within the life sciences sector
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs involving multiple deliverables and timelines
  • Background developing and managing long-term story arcs and medical content strategies aligned with product strategy and medical objectives
  • Experience directing or reviewing content development
  • Experience in nephrology or rare diseases is preferred
  • Broad understanding of drug development, including integrated planning across early- and late-stage portfolios
  • CMPP certification is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs
  • Familiarity with Veeva and PubStrat Max is a plus
  • Experience in a comparable pharmaceutical or biotech role, preferably involving small-molecule pharmaceuticals
  • Ability to set priorities in a complex environment while managing concurrent initiatives with strong attention to detail and delivery discipline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions
  • Executive presence and credibility to engage senior leaders and represent Scientific Communications across the business
  • Willingness and ability to travel 15% to 25% domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work face-to-face with colleagues, including onsite work in San Diego
