Director, Financial Institutions Relationship Manager - Sydney

MUFG is seeking a banking director to expand relationships with Australian insurance-sector financial institutions. The role covers account strategy, tailored financing and capital markets solutions, risk oversight, and portfolio growth.

Description

  • Lead strategic growth for the broader financial institutions business and assigned client portfolio
  • Create account plans that support wider business objectives
  • Work with senior stakeholders across the APAC region
  • Establish and execute account-planning processes for current and prospective financial institution clients
  • Shape the Oceania insurance-sector strategy alongside the local Managing Director and APAC Head of Solutions
  • Work with product experts to develop customised financial solutions
  • Inform product development using client needs and market developments
  • Manage the portfolio and coordinate new transactions with the credit team
  • Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers and C-suite executives
  • Track credit-risk indicators and put appropriate controls in place
  • Strengthen collaboration across risk, product, relationship management, and business development functions
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues across FIG and GCIB

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated success building broad, multi-product financial institution relationship portfolios in corporate or investment banking
  • At least five years of senior relationship management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, or economics
  • CFA or comparable additional qualifications are strongly preferred
  • Broad knowledge of financial and capital markets products, including acquisition finance, fund finance, debt capital markets, risk-management instruments, and related banking services
  • Experience leading teams or direct reports in a high-performing banking setting
  • Background in coaching, mentoring, or developing colleagues
  • Outstanding interpersonal ability to engage C-suite clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgment and advanced negotiation capability
  • Excellent organisation and account-planning skills
  • Thorough understanding of credit-management principles
  • Practical experience monitoring portfolio health metrics
  • Ability to serve as the insurance-sector subject matter expert for GCIB Oceania
  • Willingness to represent MUFG at industry events or professional associations when needed
