DevSecOps Engineer - Reston, VA Hybrid

Join PHIZENIX as a DevSecOps Engineer securing AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code, containers, Kubernetes, compliance automation, and reliable deployment workflows.

Description

  • Design and operate secure, resilient, high-performance cloud-native architectures aligned with NIST 800-53 requirements
  • Review cloud architectures and system designs for security weaknesses, then implement corrective measures
  • Create and support Python-based security automation tools and scripts
  • Administer AWS or Azure environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters, GitHub repositories, and dependency-management platforms
  • Provision cloud infrastructure, platform components, HTTP/TLS security settings, and compliance assets with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and related tools
  • Automate recurring operational and deployment activities
  • Build and manage automated release processes and CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Spinnaker, and comparable platforms
  • Develop and maintain Pipeline as Code and Infrastructure as Code implementations
  • Provision and operate cloud resources through scripts, manifests, and automation frameworks
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, networking, security, and deployment problems
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to create, review, validate, and improve code and automation workflows

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule for two days in Reston, Virginia, and at client locations in the Washington, D.C., area as needed
  • Ability to complete a seven-year background check and obtain and maintain a U.S. government clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least five years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems and Shell or Bash scripting
  • Strong Python programming experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
  • Hands-on experience creating Docker images and using containerization technologies
  • Experience deploying and administering Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience using command-line interfaces to automate repeatable processes
  • Experience developing Pipeline as Code for complex CI/CD workflows and release automation
  • Experience securing cloud environments and embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in large, complex computing environments
  • Solid knowledge of computer networks, routing, load balancing, APIs, and web application architectures
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve infrastructure, security, and networking issues
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to meet demanding delivery schedules
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
  • Preferred: experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Spinnaker, and other DevOps automation platforms
  • Preferred: experience implementing NIST 800-53 controls and compliance requirements
  • Preferred: experience building and securing enterprise cloud environments
  • Preferred: experience with container security, vulnerability management, and security automation tools
