Designer III (Remote, United States)

Design accessible, user-centered digital services for federal agencies as a Designer III at Ad Hoc LLC. Create research and prototype deliverables, contribute to design systems, support accessibility work, and mentor fellow designers in a remote environment.

Description

  • Contribute as an emerging individual contributor on a design team
  • Build leadership, guidance, and mentoring capabilities
  • Support scope, scheduling, and delivery commitments with direction from leadership
  • Develop relationships with teammates, government and company stakeholders, and program managers
  • Manage tactical program assignments alongside strategic initiatives
  • Create discovery artifacts, sketches, rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Help define and communicate milestones while delivering work within your area of expertise
  • Collaborate with Senior Designers and apply mentorship received
  • Lead competitive analyses and present findings to stakeholders
  • Add visual design and brand assets to shared design libraries
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to guide discussions and clarify goals
  • Coach and mentor designers through specific, actionable feedback
  • Strengthen storytelling skills for persuasive artifacts and presentations
  • Lead human-centered design processes and related deliverables
  • Potentially lead accessibility activities, including Section 508 compliance
  • Recognize project risks and share mitigation recommendations with leadership
  • Potentially create and manage content for prominent websites or applications in accordance with design guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years of experience
  • Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education
  • Progressive experience applying design principles and related technologies
  • Understanding of cross-functional roles and design’s effect on business objectives
  • Experience using Figma, Miro, Adobe, or comparable design tools
  • Comfort working through ambiguous requirements and environments
  • Working knowledge of typography and visual hierarchy
  • Knowledge of human-centered design methods and applicable standards and regulations
  • Potential to lead accessibility work, including Section 508 compliance, with awareness of emerging accessibility standards
  • Ability to recognize risks and communicate recommendations to leadership
