Data Analyst, Reporting – Torys LLP (Toronto Hybrid)

Deliver financial and business reporting for Torys LLP by building dashboards, validating data, and developing insights for lawyers and internal stakeholders.

Description

  • Create and maintain complex financial and non-financial reports and dashboards
  • Evaluate reporting tools and methods to strengthen the firm’s reporting capabilities
  • Prepare data from multiple sources for analysis and reporting in Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence platforms
  • Analyze financial and business data to surface trends, risks, and actionable insights
  • Convert stakeholder goals, metrics, and requirements into precise reporting deliverables
  • Check and reconcile reports, dashboards, and source data, resolving issues before distribution
  • Assemble client reporting packages, including quarterly and annual presentations, financial templates, and ad hoc information
  • Build matter management reports for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Guide lawyers and Business Services professionals on reporting needs, deliverables, and interpretation
  • Provide reporting and analytical support during absences, peak workloads, and evolving business requirements
  • Document data sources, reporting requirements, calculations, and processes
  • Review other Analysts’ reports, dashboards, and supporting analysis for accuracy, completeness, and sound interpretation
  • Support projects and firm initiatives with financial data, reporting, and analysis

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience, is required
  • Three to five years of relevant experience, preferably in a professional services firm
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Power Query in Excel
  • Experience retrieving data from a complex accounting system
  • Power BI Desktop, MDX, and/or DAX experience is an asset
  • Experience with 3E is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and deliver under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong client-service focus with the ability to manage multiple client needs at once
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong interest in technology and ongoing process improvement
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
