Contract Analytics Engineer, Looker and SQL, Remote US

Blueland is seeking a contract Analytics Engineer to maintain Looker and SQL-based analytics operations, including forecasting, vendor data quality, board reporting, and planning. The role provides full-time parental-leave coverage from December 2026 through May 2027.

Description

  • Maintain and develop Looker dashboards, reports, and LookML across new and existing explores.
  • Assist the Senior Analytics Engineer with ad hoc analysis and forecasting.
  • Improve and maintain the LookML and GitHub codebase.
  • Own sales-pacing processes, including recurring manual inputs and cross-channel refreshes.
  • Perform daily data quality assurance and user acceptance testing with the managed data-service vendor.
  • Support board data requests and recurring reports distributed to external partners.
  • Coordinate the external vendor’s bi-weekly agenda and track workflow health.
  • Contribute to quarterly planning and OKR preparation, including drafting materials.
  • Provide full-time parental-leave coverage for the Director of Data Management and Analytics from December 2026 through May 2027.
  • Work as an individual contributor reporting to the Senior Analytics Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, economics, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of analytics experience, preferably in DTC, eCommerce, or CPG.
  • Practical experience developing LookML and Looker explores, views, and derived tables.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with Snowflake and Looker.
  • Experience overseeing external data vendors and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Comfort using Git and GitHub for version control.
  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create clear reference and handoff materials.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight and navigate ambiguity on a lean data team.
  • Availability for 40 hours per week from December 2026 through May 2027.
  • Working knowledge of Python and Hex or a comparable notebook tool.
  • Experience applying statistical and forecasting or modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with Notion and AI tools such as Claude.
