AVP, Actuarial & Pricing Analytics (Hybrid - San Diego)

Lead enterprise actuarial and pricing analytics strategy at ICW Group, a commercial insurance carrier. Oversee business initiatives, product and market expansion, and actuarial teams.

Description

  • Set and maintain the department’s direction and vision
  • Shape actuarial and pricing analytics strategy with senior leadership
  • Represent ICW Group with regulators, industry organizations, and other external stakeholders
  • Create business processes and comprehensive analytics programs
  • Ensure deliverables contribute to business growth and profitability
  • Improve processes to increase accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Resolve complex issues and identify dependencies that guide team execution
  • Maintain the quality and consistency of actuarial and pricing analyses with applicable Standards of Practice
  • Advise senior and executive leaders on enterprise actuarial and pricing strategy, risk, and emerging issues
  • Partner with business leaders across multiple lines of business or comparable enterprise areas
  • Coordinate actuarial work for new product development and market expansion
  • Build productive relationships with senior executive leaders
  • Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for actuarial and pricing analytics
  • Present actuarial conclusions and findings to business leaders
  • Lead and develop Credentialed Actuaries, Pricing Analytics Professionals, and Actuarial Analysts
  • Direct team operations and communicate organizational principles
  • Set service and product delivery standards while supporting engagement, development, recognition, and retention
  • Manage team performance and growth through performance reviews, development planning, and coaching
  • Address team questions and resolve complex problems
  • Oversee budgets, technology, resources, workloads, and customer service requests
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and assigned responsibilities
  • Promote regulatory compliance, Actuarial Standards of Practice, and ICW standards for AI systems and modeling data
  • Recruit, hire, train, assign, direct, evaluate, recognize, discipline, coach, mentor, and develop department employees
  • Forecast staffing requirements and plan for peak periods and employee absences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field from a four-year college or university
  • At least 10 years of related experience, including management of multiple business lines or enterprise initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS) designation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of actuarial and pricing analytics models
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance lines of business
  • Experience managing complex projects, resources, and teams
  • Broad experience and expertise across the company and industry
  • Ability to collaborate with business leaders to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to mentor and train actuarial professionals
  • Ability to assume actuarial and pricing analytics ownership across multiple business lines
  • Ability to define and advance the strategic vision for the actuarial and pricing analytics department and the broader enterprise
  • Ability to establish credibility and influence decisions with senior executive leadership
  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • FCAS, CSPA, or data science certification preferred
