Associate General Counsel, Litigation — United States Remote

Lead complex litigation and dispute matters for Binance.US, a regulated U.S. cryptocurrency exchange. Direct outside counsel, manage legal risk and budgets, and shape litigation strategy across jurisdictions.

Description

  • Oversee a portfolio of litigation, arbitrations, pre-litigation disputes, investigations, and related matters across multiple jurisdictions from assessment through resolution
  • Shape litigation strategy with Legal leadership and oversee multiple external law firms
  • Set matter objectives, work plans, budgets, schedules, staffing requirements, and performance expectations
  • Coordinate matters across outside counsel, internal legal specialists, business teams, executives, and other stakeholders
  • Assess claims and potential exposure, then recommend litigation and settlement approaches
  • Advise on legal, financial, operational, and reputational risks in practical terms
  • Direct pleadings, discovery and e-discovery, motion practice, witness and deposition preparation, expert strategy, hearings, trials, arbitrations, settlement discussions, and appeals
  • Oversee outside-counsel budgets, invoices, expenditures, alternative fee structures, staffing efficiency, performance, and coordination across firms
  • Work with Compliance, Product, Operations, Finance, Marketing, People, IT/Security, and other teams to collect information, preserve evidence, advance strategy, and address recurring litigation risks
  • Track emerging litigation developments and advise Legal leadership and business partners on exposure, mitigation options, and relevant changes
  • Build scalable litigation processes, legal holds, case reporting, outside-counsel standards, metrics, playbooks, and related tools
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the Legal team
  • Contribute to department-wide Legal priorities and provide practical guidance on urgent or high-priority matters

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Active, good-standing membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • At least six years of legal practice after law school
  • Substantial experience managing complex litigation and disputes
  • Significant litigation experience at a leading law firm; current in-house practitioners may also be considered
  • Extensive experience directing outside litigation counsel and aligning strategy across multiple firms
  • Strong command of federal and state civil litigation and arbitration, including discovery, e-discovery, privilege, motion practice, settlements, trials, and other core procedures
  • Ability to independently analyze complex legal and factual issues, evaluate risk, formulate strategy, and deliver concise recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing litigation budgets and legal spending
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment, strong organization, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple critical matters alongside competing deadlines
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, cryptocurrency, technology, or another highly regulated sector
  • Familiarity with consumer disputes, class actions, regulatory litigation, commercial disputes, securities matters, or similar issues in a regulated financial-services business is preferred
  • Current legal authorization to work in the United States
