Applications Engineer II – Manufacturing (Onsite, Coppell, TX)

Applications Engineer II leading manufacturing process improvement, quality, cost, and production initiatives at Rochester Sensors. The role covers lean programs, tooling, new product introduction, factory improvements, and cross-functional engineering support.

Description

  • Act as the primary liaison among Manufacturing, Engineering, and plant teams
  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement projects
  • Apply lean and continuous improvement methods while supporting cultural transformation
  • Implement lean product development and manufacturing practices to optimize process and product flow
  • Advise Design Engineering on design-for-excellence considerations during new product development
  • Create cost-effective tooling, fixtures, and test platforms
  • Support new product introduction ramps, interplant production balancing, and Rochester business initiatives
  • Join product development reviews to confirm manufacturing engineering and operational readiness
  • Lead kaizen events, rapid problem-solving sessions, and learning events
  • Improve factory yields through data systems, process changes, design updates, and early engineering input
  • Manage capital and noncapital projects, including cost-reduction programs and transitions
  • Advance unit-cost control, quality, productivity, escape prevention, and first-pass yield
  • Implement Built-in Quality practices, reduce quality escapes, and manage Cost of Quality efforts
  • Follow and support Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Build the data and business case for capital equipment, including process management and installation needs
  • Maintain compliance with departmental budgets
  • Provide hands-on support for Annual Operating Plan goals covering on-time delivery, PPM, DPM, cycle time, first-pass yield, material and labor costs, supplier quality, scrap, rework, and supplier lead time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • At least seven years of technical engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of engineering data management systems and engineering change-order processes
  • Experience with standard manufacturing software and equipment programming, such as LabVIEW, PLCs, and SolidWorks
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Hands-on mechanical systems troubleshooting experience
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal business communication skills
  • Must be located in the Dallas–Fort Worth area
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 25 pounds and working around heat, cold, heights, gases, vibration, dust, chemicals, odors, dampness, fumes, and noise
