Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Leader - Thermo King

Lead advanced manufacturing engineering for Thermo King’s multi-site climate manufacturing operations. Direct AME teams, product launches, capital programs, and manufacturing excellence across North American facilities.

Description

  • Set the advanced manufacturing engineering strategy and transformation across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing engineers and subject matter experts
  • Support new product introductions and continuing product improvement programs
  • Oversee AME support for a business generating more than $1 billion in annual revenue
  • Create manufacturing concepts and processes using DFM/DFA, FMEA, 3P, 7-Ways, and Lean methods
  • Assess and implement safe, economical, and innovative manufacturing processes
  • Improve welding, brazing, automation, coating, conveyance, refrigerant vacuum and charging, and general assembly processes
  • Define manufacturing plans, tooling needs and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments
  • Govern capital equipment projects across multiple manufacturing facilities
  • Solve manufacturing process and product design issues through analysis, investigation, statistical evaluation, and corrective action planning
  • Design manufacturing flows, workstation layouts, organizational structures, and station controls
  • Partner with plant manufacturing, quality engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams
  • Support daily management systems and design-for-manufacturability programs
  • Plan and manage projects, estimate resources and timelines, communicate status, and track progress with Gantt charts, matrices, and maps
  • Contribute to long-term business planning
  • Create best-practice and benchmarking systems across AME/ME and related functions
  • Lead the rollout and maturation of Total Productive Maintenance across sites to improve equipment OEE
  • Advance tooling asset management and reduce risks related to company- and supplier-owned tooling

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an industrial discipline
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing experience
  • Industrial environment experience is preferred
  • Experience with new product launches and project management
  • Knowledge of advanced quality methods and design-for-assembly and design-for-manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of life-cycle cost, dimensional capability, and capacity analysis
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for Total Productive Maintenance
  • Experience managing capital equipment and tooling projects through their full life cycle
  • Experience working across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Experience developing team members’ technical and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Experience presenting to senior leaders and executives
  • Experience with automation, welding, brazing processes, wastewater treatment, coating, refrigerant management, and assembly is preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50–75% of the time
  • Safety-sensitive position that may require additional drug screening
