Accountant - Malta Hybrid

Manage Malta-based client portfolios, VAT returns, audits, and accounting compliance while mentoring junior accountants. Join an established Malta-based corporate services provider.

Description

  • Prepare management accounts for a portfolio of clients and coordinate annual audit processes
  • Prepare and submit client VAT returns
  • Ensure client and junior team assignments are completed on time and meet statutory requirements
  • Work with management on client accounting needs and service quality
  • Review financial statements and VAT returns prepared by colleagues
  • Contribute to ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members
  • Schedule regular team catch-up meetings
  • Encourage adherence to internal procedures and best practices
  • Identify training requirements and support the preparation and delivery of training sessions
  • Help management prepare articles for the company website
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information for financial statements and statutory returns
  • Escalate significant accounting issues to management
  • Attend meetings with portfolio clients and support junior colleagues during their meetings

Requirements

  • Hold a recognised accountancy qualification and be fully qualified
  • Have at least two years of experience in a client accounting environment
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of client accounting and VAT
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, as well as SAGE
  • Have C2-level or native fluency in written and spoken English
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Bring strong problem-solving ability and excellent organisation
  • Prioritise effectively across multiple assignments
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail
  • Handle sensitive financial information responsibly and ethically
  • Already be based in Malta
