Senior Backend Engineer, India (Remote)

Lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable backend systems at Shuru, an AI and technology engineering company. Own architecture, greenfield products, cloud infrastructure, and technical mentorship.

Descriere

  • Lead backend systems from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
  • Create products from the ground up and scale them as usage and business needs grow.
  • Design resilient APIs, data models, microservices, and event-driven workflows.
  • Choose architectures that balance performance, scale, consistency, security, and maintainability.
  • Build distributed systems with fault tolerance, reliable communication, and suitable data consistency guarantees.
  • Strengthen monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting.
  • Help develop CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Guide teammates through design reviews, code reviews, and practical technical mentorship.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams, taking responsibility for delivery and product outcomes.

Cerințe

  • Proven experience building and running backend systems in production.
  • Experience with a backend programming language and strong engineering fundamentals; openness to Java or Go is expected, while prior experience with either is not required.
  • Sound knowledge of design patterns, architectural principles, and system design.
  • Practical experience with databases, data modeling, query optimization, and API development.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
  • Strong grasp of distributed consistency, concurrency, scalability, and failure handling.
  • Knowledge of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure data handling.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps fundamentals, including CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms; Google Cloud is preferred, and AWS is also suitable.
  • Able to work independently, explain technical decisions, and mentor colleagues in a remote setting.
  • Startup experience taking products from 0 to 1 and scaling them from 1 to 100 is preferred.
  • Experience owning architecture and delivering greenfield products is preferred.
  • Experience in anti-fraud, commercial banking, or growth engineering is an advantage.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership, and balancing delivery speed with engineering quality.
