Material Compliance and Chemistry Supervisor

Lead Ford’s chemistry laboratory and material compliance teams, overseeing automotive materials testing, regulatory compliance, and laboratory operations. Develop employees and coordinate work across global regulations, suppliers, engineers, and vehicle programs.

Descriere

  • Lead and develop experienced chemists and material compliance engineers through coaching and performance support.
  • Set priorities and allocate resources across the Chemistry Laboratory and Material Compliance teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, high-performing team environment.
  • Support employee growth and ensure work is safe, accurate, and timely.
  • Oversee laboratory testing of automotive fluids and lubricants, vehicle emissions, and battery-electric vehicle electrolytes, sealers, resins, and polymers.
  • Direct testing for materials development, failure investigations, and analysis of unidentified materials.
  • Review laboratory reports and strengthen the quality, consistency, and value of test results.
  • Provide technical guidance on chemistry, analytical methods, and laboratory issues.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to laboratory equipment, methods, and operations.
  • Interpret, communicate, and implement corporate material and substance requirements.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers, Ford engineers, functions, and vehicle programs on RSMS, ELV, REACH, EPA/TSCA, conflict minerals, and transportation regulations.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting and analysis using Ford’s Global Material Management tools and IMDS.
  • Facilitate compliance reviews, issue-resolution discussions, and vehicle program meetings.
  • Ensure government material-compliance documents meet RRR requirements for vehicle programs in Europe, China, and South Korea.
  • Maintain Ford’s corporate RSMS restricted-substance lists and improve related Global Material Management tools and systems.
  • Oversee laboratory housekeeping, safety, environmental practices, chemical inventory, and hazardous-waste disposal.
  • Manage section administration and operations, including capital projects, performance metrics, efficiency improvements, employee development, and budget planning and delivery.
  • Interpret and administer the applicable UAW–Ford agreement.
  • Balance competing priorities and resolve complex technical and operational issues across both teams.

Cerințe

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
  • At least two years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience as a chemist, chemical engineer, or materials engineer.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience with global material and substance regulations.
  • Experience with FEDE RQTs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop technical employees.
  • Experience applying quality assurance and quality control principles.
  • Ability to recommend and implement improvements to laboratory instrumentation, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance on chemistry and material compliance issues.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and complex technical issues.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
