Field Applications Engineer, Aerospace and Defense

Develop connector solutions for ITT Cannon’s aerospace and defense customers, supporting design wins from technical proposals through prototypes. Partner with customer engineers and internal teams on product development and engineering engagements.

Descriere

  • Partner with ITT Cannon Sales and customer engineers to recommend products and technical solutions for new designs
  • Identify system design requirements and unresolved technical challenges
  • Lead solution development to address customer needs
  • Guide technical discovery and product development from concept through production
  • Coordinate work across sales, product management, engineering, and operations
  • Provide design solutions, models, technical proposals, and prototypes
  • Serve as the lead engineering contact for customers pursuing new designs
  • Present product capabilities and technical solutions
  • Train customer engineers on products and technical topics
  • Connect customer engineering teams with internal cross-functional groups
  • Coordinate activities across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations
  • Build relationships with customer technical communities and identify needs for new designs
  • Track technical market trends and spot opportunities to expand products
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback
  • Develop and present technical solutions to win new designs
  • Assess customer applications and requirements to recommend suitable solutions
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical issue resolution
  • Work with product design engineering to create custom solutions based on customer feedback
  • Report to the New Product Development Engineering Manager and the Director of Product Management

Cerințe

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or at least 10 years of connector design engineering experience in place of a degree
  • At least 5 years of related industry experience in connector design
  • At least 5 years in a field application, product management, or technical sales role in the connector industry
  • Strong understanding of connector, cable, and system design and manufacturing
  • Proven ability to manage customer engagements directly
  • Excellent written and spoken communication
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Able to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated leadership across functional departments
  • Organized approach to meeting strategic objectives
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD modeling
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to travel periodically, up to 40%
  • Access to export-controlled documents and information
  • Preferred: Experience with harsh-environment circular connectors, electrical cabling, high-power applications, or high-speed data transfer
  • Preferred: Knowledge of high-performance thermoplastics, metal alloys, and related manufacturing requirements
  • Preferred: Experience with CREO Parametric 3D modeling and documentation
