Commissioning Engineer II, Data Centers
Lead Level 1–5 commissioning across QTS data centers, validating electrical, mechanical, security, life safety, EPMS, and BMS systems. The role is based in Arizona and requires travel to U.S. sites.
Descriere
- Commission data center building, security, life safety, electrical, mechanical, EPMS, and BMS systems through Levels 1–5.
- Coordinate, document, and track commissioning work.
- Test and validate connectivity, network infrastructure, security and life safety systems, finishes, electrical distribution equipment, cooling systems, EPMS, and building automation systems.
- Manage project activities and coordinate with a third-party commissioning agent.
- Support construction and commissioning work, including nights or weekends when needed.
- Travel approximately 75% to other U.S. sites.
- Coordinate site construction and installations with development teams and external construction resources.
- Prepare commissioning plans for Level 1–5 systems and components.
- Verify installations, testing, and validation against industry standards and client specifications.
- Track and resolve commissioning issues and report feedback to program management.
- Create or review commissioning test procedures, reports, and as-built documentation.
- Witness equipment testing and validate operating sequences and documentation.
- Work with design engineers, project managers, contractors, commissioning agents, and facilities operations.
- Apply quality controls and ensure compliance with regulations and industry best practices.
- Develop and test site-specific SOPs, MOPs, and ERPs.
- Train end users and maintenance staff on commissioned systems.
- Follow QTS change management procedures to secure maintenance approvals and complete maintenance records using QTS processes and software.
Cerințe
- Have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Bring at least five years of experience in data center engineering, commissioning, project management, or a comparable field.
- Have experience with building maintenance, CCTV and access control, networking, telecommunications, and/or fire detection and suppression systems.
- Be able to travel to other data center locations as required.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Be a U.S. citizen, as required by law for federal customer contracts.
- Understand mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and design used in data centers.
- Know electricity and medium- to low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Have experience with emergency backup systems, including generators, UPS, and battery backup.
- Have experience with mechanical cooling solutions such as chillers, CRAH, CRAC, pumps, and heat exchangers.
- Understand equipment operation and maintenance, single-line drawings, critical scripted work, and operating sequences.
- Be able to analyze system operation, diagnose malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- Be able to learn and apply job-related knowledge within established guidelines and expectations.
- Be able to develop solutions and prepare technical plans.
- Have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Have computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and web applications.
- Be able to type frequently and perform standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and handle heavier loads with assistance or lifting aids.
