Temporary Marketing and Communications Manager

Leads marketing, communications, campaigns, events, and digital storytelling for Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles. Oversees the Girls Exploring Media program and coordinates creative vendors.

Description

  • Create and deliver marketing and communications initiatives for GSGLA.
  • Manage internal and external communications, event support, marketing materials, and content for websites and social media.
  • Maintain consistent messaging and materials across departments in line with the GSUSA brand voice.
  • Promote GSGLA as a leading organization for girls and young women in grades K–12.
  • Build relationships with industry professionals and vendors.
  • Create brand narratives, data-informed stories, and consumer campaigns.
  • Advance brand development and storytelling across channels.
  • Plan and deliver annual marketing and communications strategies across traditional, digital, and broadcast media.
  • Assess strategy results and make improvements.
  • Bring fresh ideas and competitive insights to communications channels.
  • Write content and materials for marketing, communications, and events.
  • Create messaging and assets for print and other traditional marketing formats.
  • Oversee digital marketing, communications, and event channels, including social media, Canva, Canto, websites, email publications, and in-house video and photography.
  • Help produce written materials, presentations, and graphic and digital designs for in-person, online, and hybrid events.
  • Lead the Girls Exploring Media (GEM) program for 50 Girl Scouts, including recruitment, budgeting, event delivery, speaker recruitment, and coordination.
  • Coordinate photographers, designers, videographers and editors, and event staff.
  • Report to the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications and support senior marketing leaders.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Bring at least five years of progressive experience in marketing, advertising, digital communications, graphic design, writing, and communications.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Know Adobe Experience Manager or similar tools, HTML, and website development or maintenance.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp, Google Analytics, or similar applications is a plus.
  • Have excellent editing, proofreading, copywriting, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Show the ability to lead others toward goals and action.
  • Complete GSGLA’s mandatory supervisor training curriculum.
  • Have strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Use analytical thinking and problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Work well with a team, build relationships, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Be available for occasional evening or weekend meetings and events.
  • Show dedication to customer service and experience working with volunteers.
  • Make effective decisions with integrity and professionalism.
  • Bring nonprofit experience; Girl Scout organization experience is a plus.
  • Hold a valid California driver’s license, have a working vehicle and proof of insurance, and be able to meet timely, extensive travel requirements.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Complete state-mandated reporter training.
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and other assigned activities.
