Structural Analyst III – New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage

Analyze and qualify New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage structures through finite element analysis, testing, and automation. Contribute to Blue Origin’s reusable orbital launch vehicle development.

Description

  • Conduct detailed hand calculations and finite element analyses for primary and secondary aerospace structures
  • Prepare stress-analysis documentation supporting the release of engineering drawings and related documents
  • Develop predictions, execute test campaigns, and produce reports for hardware qualification
  • Create system- and detail-level models that support structural design
  • Provide structural-analysis input to teams working on configuration development and trade studies
  • Mentor designers and junior structural analysts in stress, stability, fracture analysis, and standard practices
  • Advance enterprise analysis capabilities by developing automation for model creation, optimization, strength assessment, and report generation
  • Contribute to the development and operation of the New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related field
  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with one or more of Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, or Abaqus, including reading and modifying input files
  • Advanced proficiency with FEA tools such as FEMAP, Abaqus CAE, or Hypermesh
  • Thorough knowledge of finite element modeling techniques, including boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, and verification methods
  • Experience performing structural analysis with hand calculations and finite element methods
  • Experience using industry-standard tools such as Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS-Dyna, Hypermesh, or HyperSizer
  • Experience developing or conducting qualification tests
  • Knowledge of structural requirements for aerospace or launch vehicles
  • Experience with fatigue and fracture analysis
  • Willingness to relocate to a Washington, Florida, or Colorado location
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugees or asylees
  • Successful completion of Blue Origin’s standard background check is required
