Description

Set technical direction, make build-versus-buy decisions, define architecture, and own the technical roadmap with product leadership
Translate ambiguous problems into scoped plans, identify risks, break down initiatives, and align teams
Design and deliver scalable pipelines, resilient services, and high-performance production systems
Use AI-assisted development tools including Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot
Evaluate and integrate production AI/ML capabilities such as LLMs, embeddings, and classification models
Lead cross-team technical initiatives, RFCs, architecture reviews, and consensus-building
Own systems from requirements through release and ongoing production operations
Monitor SLOs and SLIs, resolve production issues, and improve system reliability
Strengthen engineering practices through code reviews, mentoring, technical documentation, and example-setting

Requirements

Strong Python skills, with Python serving as the primary backend language
Production experience with at least two programming languages
Experience designing and owning production systems used by real users at scale
A record of making significant architectural decisions and owning their outcomes
Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives without formal authority
Strong system design judgment across failure modes, data flow, scalability, and operational cost
Deep DevOps and operations experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability
A track record of mentoring engineers and raising team standards
Willingness to complete a hands-on development session during the technical interview
Ability to navigate unfamiliar code, use AI tools critically, decompose problems, make incremental progress, and communicate trade-offs
Experience leading large-scale migrations or platform rewrites
Hands-on production AI/ML experience with LLMs, BERT, NLP pipelines, or document understanding systems
Experience with content processing, enrichment, or search systems at scale
Familiarity with Java
Experience with GitOps, ArgoCD, or Infrastructure as Code
Active practice of AI-assisted development (AIDLC)
