Software Engineering Manager

Lead engineering teams building Fanatics’ mobile sports platform, with responsibility for scalable software delivery and technical execution. Shape product roadmaps and experiences serving millions of sports fans.

Description

  • Lead engineering strategy and provide technical guidance across the engineering organization.
  • Build and manage software teams while upholding and improving engineering standards.
  • Translate technical requirements into priorities, lead daily Scrum activities, and deliver projects on schedule.
  • Remove delivery blockers or escalate them when necessary.
  • Collaborate with product and design leaders on an ambitious, achievable roadmap for executives and stakeholders.
  • Use objectives, data, and KPIs to support consistent, predictable team execution.
  • Promote ongoing improvements to engineering practices and systems.
  • Report KPIs, project status, and performance metrics to executives and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, or extend solutions for stronger outcomes.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and onboard a diverse engineering team.
  • Contribute to the Fanatics App, a mobile sports platform spanning free-to-play games, live events, ecommerce, and emerging product experiences.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience managing an engineering team.
  • At least four years of experience building highly scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Broad knowledge of system design approaches and the ability to break down architectures for development by multiple teams.
  • Ability to scope projects against target dates and business needs.
  • Ability to distinguish essential, triageable, and deferrable features and negotiate priorities with Product Management.
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics to engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, and nontechnical functional leaders.
  • Experience with Agile software delivery and Scrum methodology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong report-writing skills, including the ability to gather, assess, and logically analyze relevant information.
  • Ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment with changing priorities and rapid decisions.
  • Team-oriented approach and willingness to take ownership to complete the work.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions in an enterprise setting.
  • Preferred: experience in a startup environment.
  • Preferred: strong background in mobile software engineering.
  • Preferred: experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform.
