Software Engineer, Storage Systems — NetApp (Bangalore, Onsite)

Develop virtual storage and data management solutions as a Software Engineer at NetApp. Build backend features and troubleshoot distributed, highly available systems in Bangalore.

Description

  • Develop, test, and debug virtual storage and data management solutions
  • Contribute to new product development and enhancements for existing products
  • Build end-to-end features with an emphasis on backend implementation
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and deliver reliable, high-quality solutions
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues
  • Maintain code quality and long-term maintainability

Requirements

  • Strong systems-programming skills in C and/or C++
  • Ability to perform low-level debugging with gdb or lldb, core dumps, and memory or threading diagnostics
  • Solid knowledge of storage concepts, including filesystems, block I/O, caching, snapshots, replication, RAID, I/O consistency, and failure handling
  • Experience with Linux internals, including processes and threads, memory management, and the I/O stack
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and performance profiling
  • Hands-on experience building and debugging distributed, highly available systems
  • Strong problem-solving ability and independence when driving ambiguous technical work
  • Experience with virtualization or hypervisors such as VMware ESXi and KVM/QEMU, plus storage virtualization best practices
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and storage services across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud networking patterns
  • Knowledge of NVMe, iSCSI, NFS/SMB, S3 or object interfaces, and multipath or high-availability configurations
  • Experience in performance engineering, including profiling, latency and IOPS analysis, lock contention, and capacity planning
  • At least 5 years of related experience for individual contributor roles
