Description

  • Manage, maintain, patch, and upgrade enterprise database platforms
  • Track database availability, health, performance, and capacity
  • Investigate and resolve complex database incidents and performance problems
  • Develop and implement backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions
  • Tune database performance through query optimization, indexing, and execution-plan analysis
  • Support disaster recovery planning, exercises, and operational preparedness
  • Apply database security controls, access governance, auditing, and encryption
  • Partner with application teams to assess database changes and improve application performance
  • Contribute to database migrations, modernization, automation, and platform enhancement initiatives
  • Maintain database standards, technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks
  • Take part in incident, problem, and change management activities
  • Coach junior database administrators and provide escalation support for complex issues
  • Help keep database platforms secure, stable, performant, and aligned with business growth
  • Improve system reliability, minimize downtime, strengthen operational resilience, and support application and business teams

Requirements

  • Substantial experience as a Database Administrator in an enterprise environment
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more database technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB, MongoDB, Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS or Aurora, or Google Cloud SQL
  • Strong command of database architecture, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Hands-on experience with backup and restore, disaster recovery, replication, clustering, and high availability
  • Understanding of database security, access controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance obligations
  • Experience using monitoring, alerting, and database troubleshooting tools
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management practices
  • Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL, or infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical documentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and support critical production environments
  • Experience with cloud database services on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Background in database migration, consolidation, or modernization projects
  • Knowledge of DevOps methods, CI/CD pipelines, and automated database deployments
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Datadog, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana, or comparable platforms
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle DBA, AWS Database Specialty, or equivalent, are desirable
