Software and Controls Engineer, GM Defense (Hybrid)

Develop embedded control algorithms for GM Defense government mobility solutions. Design, test, calibrate, and validate vehicle and non-vehicle systems.

Description

  • Develop embedded control systems for vehicle and non-vehicle applications
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Create software and integrate requirements for GM Defense platforms
  • Design and test control systems with C, MATLAB, and Simulink
  • Develop control algorithms for propulsion, chassis, and other complex systems
  • Document algorithm design decisions and functional behavior
  • Assist with control calibration to improve system performance
  • Work with GM embedded controls teams to deliver customer-specific requirements
  • Contribute to software verification and feature validation activities
  • Reconcile GM engineering practices with government specifications
  • Participate in electrical design activities and peer reviews
  • Share progress with cross-functional program integration teams and leadership
  • Keep current with simulation techniques and controls engineering methods

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or computer engineering, computer science, or a related listed discipline
  • Professional experience with embedded controls, including algorithms, software, or calibration
  • At least two years of experience developing algorithms with C, MATLAB, and Simulink
  • Experience using development and testing tools such as INCA and Vehicle Spy (VSpy)
  • Experience with software build tools including Git and Jenkins
  • Familiarity with data-logging tools and file formats
  • Legal authorization to operate a motor vehicle
  • U.S. Person status, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, asylee status, or refugee status
