Senior Strategic Engineer – Electrical, I&C, and Mechanical

Lead lifecycle planning, asset risk management, and technology integration for Vistra’s nuclear power fleet. Support safe, sustainable, and cost-effective operations across four plants.

Description

  • Develop and execute long-term lifecycle management strategies for Vistra’s nuclear fleet
  • Build replacement and refurbishment plans with schedules and key milestones
  • Project the corporation’s future budgetary requirements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define major outage and preventive maintenance work scopes
  • Manage asset tracking and oversight across the full lifecycle
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to maintain reliable access to critical materials and components
  • Perform detailed risk assessments and establish mitigation measures
  • Assess and implement emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve fleet performance
  • Determine how new technologies affect long-range plans and component lifecycles
  • Deliver technical support across the nuclear fleet
  • Communicate technical guidance so work and repairs are performed accurately

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering
  • A Professional Engineer license or additional qualifying experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Understanding of current and forthcoming regulatory, code, and broader industry matters
  • Proficiency in technical evaluation methodologies
  • Proficiency with nuclear plant technologies
  • At least eight years of experience in power plant operations, engineering, or a comparable industry is preferred
  • Ability to apply foundational scientific principles
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues, leaders, and external agencies
  • Ability to carry out projects and strategies with limited supervision
  • Evidence of consistently strong performance through consecutive evaluations or relevant external work history
