Senior Software Engineer, Card Platform — Remote Canada

Build Affirm’s high-scale card loan decision platform, developing distributed services, APIs, and data models that support real-time card transactions.

Description

  • Shape technical strategy through project planning, prioritization, and delivery
  • Lead end-to-end design and development of large-scale, highly available services
  • Develop resilient APIs and data models for microservice and event-driven architectures
  • Partner with Product, Analytics, Design, Legal, and Accounting on card loan attribution and lifecycle strategy
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical problems
  • Improve existing code and deliver scalable, dependable solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development
  • Facilitate technical discussions and design reviews
  • Promote engineering best practices through code reviews

Requirements

  • At least five years of software development or engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of system design and architecture
  • Leadership skills that support team development and continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex ideas to varied audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Python or Kotlin
  • Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of web frameworks and RESTful API development
  • Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Residence in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
