Senior Python AI Backend Engineer at MAPFRE — Hybrid Madrid

Backend engineer building AI agents and Python services that automate the software development lifecycle at MAPFRE. The role covers cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure for an international platform.

Description

  • Design and develop Python services and components for AI agents
  • Build and maintain AI agents that generate project backends
  • Define AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure with emphasis on scalability, security, and cost
  • Make technical decisions on system design evolution while contributing to day-to-day development
  • Integrate AI models and services into real-world software development workflows
  • Collaborate with technical specialists to maintain the platform's end-to-end consistency
  • Review and mentor code written by other Python developers
  • Provide technical support to teams across multiple countries
  • Contribute to a proprietary platform spanning the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, code generation and review, interfaces, and automated testing

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of software development experience, including intensive Python work in large-scale production environments
  • Strong backend expertise and extensive LLM knowledge, including advanced prompting, model API integration, RAG, and agent frameworks
  • More than 10 complex backend projects involving technical design from the ground up
  • At least two real-world projects integrating AI solutions into production systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Temporal, or similar technologies
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating production applications on AWS and Azure
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • A track record of making system design decisions while remaining actively involved in development
  • Experience using AI agents to build backends and tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, or OpenHands
  • Experience with microservice architectures, APIs, and integration patterns in distributed systems
  • Experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD)
  • Advanced English proficiency at C1 level
  • Spring Boot experience is a plus
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies is a plus
  • Knowledge of Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or similar technologies is a plus
  • Experience with OpenAPI, gRPC, and pytest is a plus
  • Experience with Dynatrace is a plus
  • AWS and/or Azure certifications are a plus
  • Experience generating knowledge graphs is a plus
  • At least two years of prior experience automating the software development lifecycle or building developer tools is a plus
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with stakeholders at different levels
  • Autonomy, proactivity, problem-solving ability, clear communication, and a commitment to continuous learning
