Senior Mainframe Db2 DBA – Edinburgh Hybrid
Senior z/OS Db2 DBA role supporting Lloyds Banking Group’s banking infrastructure in Edinburgh. Maintain mainframe Db2 services, resolve critical incidents, and lead the zDBA technology roadmap.
Description
- Provide advanced technical support for mainframe Db2 and its related processes, tools, and utilities
- Operate and maintain services in line with Group standards, policies, and agreed service levels
- Support investment-funded mainframe initiatives, including out-of-hours activities
- Deliver technical support and resolve incidents and problems across complex systems and processes
- Maintain complex mainframe environments while meeting demanding timelines
- Contribute to strategy and design for the mainframe development and test estate
- Lead the zDBA technology roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders
- Deliver standardisation and service improvement initiatives
- Work with Lab and Platform teams to create, promote, and implement process improvements
- Follow governance requirements, operational procedures, and established processes rigorously
Requirements
- Deep, extensive expertise in Db2 on z/OS
- Expert experience monitoring and optimising Db2 performance, including SQL and buffer pool tuning
- Ability to recommend targeted changes that strengthen service stability and availability
- Expertise governing and approving DDL changes, managing schema evolution, assessing impacts, and following change-control procedures
- Extensive experience leading troubleshooting and resolution for critical online systems
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to senior leadership
- Experience mentoring junior colleagues in Db2 fundamentals, performance tuning, utilities, and operational practices
- More than 10 years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA within a financial organisation
