Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Python and React

Build Python and React products for Hook, an AI-powered customer growth company, with responsibility for scalable architecture, APIs, reliability, and technical improvements.

Description

  • Build customer-facing products and platform capabilities across the stack, with a focus on backend engineering.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and design colleagues to plan and deliver features.
  • Develop clean, tested, maintainable software using Python on the backend and React on the frontend.
  • Lead architecture for key areas and advance technical improvements.
  • Create scalable APIs, services, and data models.
  • Review code and support other engineers through mentoring.
  • Strengthen engineering practices, tools, and development workflows.
  • Monitor production systems and improve their performance and reliability.
  • Connect the product with third-party platforms and services.
  • Take on increasingly complex technical work and help guide the product and engineering organisation.

Requirements

  • Production software development experience across frontend and backend, with a backend emphasis.
  • Strong Python experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating production software.
  • Experience working with APIs and connecting third-party services.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem solving and a commitment to software quality.
  • Cloud platform experience, such as AWS, is desirable.
  • Experience with AI products, machine learning systems, or data-intensive applications is desirable.
  • Experience designing scalable distributed systems is desirable.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Willingness to work from the London office two days each week.
