Description

  • Develop and support high-performance, low-latency Java applications for systematic trading, spanning order management, execution algorithms, risk management, and pricing.
  • Lead the complete software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design through coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Apply advanced multithreading, asynchronous and event-driven techniques, and performance optimization to high-throughput trading systems.
  • Create and maintain Linux-based connections to external trading systems, exchanges, and execution venues through FIX, messaging middleware, and market data feeds.
  • Partner with traders, quants, and risk managers to turn trading needs into reliable, scalable software solutions.
  • Help implement custom trading signals and strategies.
  • Maintain engineering quality through thorough testing, peer reviews, and established software development practices.

Requirements

  • Three to seven years of experience developing trading systems, electronic trading platforms, or financial technology applications in front-office environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical discipline, supported by a strong academic record.
  • Expert Java programming ability, including deep familiarity with modern Java versions; Java 17 or later is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of multithreading, concurrent programming, and thread safety.
  • Strong command of asynchronous and event-driven programming and performance optimization.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, and software architecture.
  • Experience with system architecture, messaging patterns, and distributed systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong Linux and Unix skills.
  • Experience connecting external APIs, third-party trading systems, and market connectivity platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative trading environment.
  • Strong ethical judgment when working with sensitive trading systems and data.
  • Applicants for this Finance Division position at NHA must already be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Preferred: experience with FIX and electronic trading connectivity standards.
  • Preferred: proficiency in Python, C++, or C#, with experience in kdb/q or time-series databases.
  • Preferred: knowledge of cloud platforms, messaging middleware, and DevOps practices.
  • Preferred: understanding of equity market microstructure, trading workflows, and regulatory frameworks including MiFID II and Reg NMS.
  • Preferred: familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning applied to trading.
  • Preferred: experience with Agile or Scrum and strong technical documentation skills.
