Senior Financial Analyst – Toronto Hybrid

Support Sun Life Canada’s expense consolidation, forecasting, and reporting as a Senior Financial Analyst. Develop financial models and provide insights that help business leaders manage operating costs.

Description

  • Manage monthly forecasting and annual and strategic planning cycles for Operations Expense Management consolidation.
  • Consolidate business-unit submissions, verify their accuracy and completeness, and assess significant variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Align planning schedules, assumptions, templates, and inputs with Finance partners.
  • Produce consolidated expense outlooks, roll-forwards, and management reports.
  • Maintain consolidation models, planning materials, and process documentation.
  • Develop and enhance financial models and processes supporting monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Evaluate expense trends to identify opportunities to improve operating costs.
  • Present financial and non-financial results with clear commentary and actionable insights.
  • Contribute to expense budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and annual planning activities.
  • Drive continuous improvements and document repeatable financial models and processes.
  • Develop strong relationships with business leaders and serve as a trusted financial advisor.
  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and consulting, including expense studies and cost-benefit assessments.
  • Clarify common charges and Sun Life’s expense management processes for business partners.

Requirements

  • Hold a financial designation, preferably a CPA, or an MBA with comparable experience.
  • Bring at least five years of experience in financial planning, reporting, and analysis, ideally within Financial Services.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understand data management tools such as Tableau and Python.
  • Have experience developing financial models.
  • Expense management experience is preferred.
  • Experience creating executive-level presentations and content.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced setting with multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting, and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work some overtime during peak reporting periods.
