Senior DevSecOps Engineer — Washington, DC Onsite

Senior DevSecOps Engineer responsible for securing DoD cloud infrastructure, automating CI/CD delivery, and operating containerized platforms. The role covers AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, compliance, observability, reliability, and cloud cost optimization.

Description

  • Design, deploy, and support secure CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native infrastructure, observability capabilities, and automated application delivery in a DoD environment.
  • Build automated CI/CD workflows with Jenkins/CloudBees, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
  • Automate application releases, configuration, testing, and infrastructure administration.
  • Create automated tests with Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and related tools.
  • Support deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades for Kafka and Elastic clusters.
  • Configure applications to send network data to Elastic Stack environments hosted on AWS.
  • Operate containerized application platforms using Kubernetes/OpenShift and Docker.
  • Investigate and resolve installation, infrastructure, application, and system problems.
  • Create centralized dashboards and observability capabilities for application, infrastructure, security, and cloud-spend monitoring.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation based on metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Strengthen incident detection, operational visibility, root-cause analysis, and platform reliability.
  • Identify, document, track, and reduce technical risks.
  • Configure applications and infrastructure to satisfy DoD cybersecurity requirements and applicable STIGs.
  • Embed security controls and compliance monitoring in CI/CD pipelines and production systems.
  • Assist with remediating security findings and configuration gaps.
  • Assess resource utilization and apply cloud cost-management and FinOps practices.
  • Administer enterprise certificate issuance, renewal, rotation, and expiration tracking.
  • Contribute to Agile delivery processes and daily Scrum ceremonies.
  • Present completed capabilities to stakeholders and work with distributed teams, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Provide customers and program leadership with technical updates, risks, and recommendations.
  • Offer technical leadership while maintaining comprehensive engineering and operational documentation.

Requirements

  • Work fully onsite in Washington, DC.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Maintain a current Security+ certification or an equivalent or higher certification satisfying applicable DoD IAT Level II requirements.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field with 8–12 years of related experience, or a master’s degree in a relevant technical field with 6–10 years of related experience.
  • Have developed software in Agile environments and demonstrated the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Have experience with distributed version-control systems such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Have experience developing software on Linux platforms.
  • Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts in practice.
  • Manage multiple priorities, assign work independently, and function effectively on a geographically distributed team.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with virtual teams.
  • Communicate technical status and present information to customers and program leadership.
  • Demonstrate leadership capability.
  • Show strong attention to detail along with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Be willing and able to complete and maintain additional customer suitability screenings during employment.
  • Preferred experience includes software development lifecycles, Python, Java, SQL, JSON/REST, JavaScript, AWS, DevOps pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, Atlassian tools, Agile/Scrum, API integrations, DoD environments, DISA, STIGs, and technical documentation.
