Senior DevSecOps Engineer in Washington, DC

Secure DoD cloud, CI/CD, and container platforms through automation, observability, compliance, testing, and certificate management across AWS and Kubernetes environments.

Description

  • Build and support secure CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native infrastructure, observability solutions, and automated application delivery capabilities in a DoD environment.
  • Create automated build and deployment pipelines with Jenkins/CloudBees, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
  • Automate application deployment, configuration, testing, and infrastructure administration.
  • Create automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and related tools.
  • Deploy, configure, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
  • Configure applications to integrate network data with the Elastic Stack hosted in AWS.
  • Support Kubernetes/OpenShift and Docker container platforms.
  • Develop dashboards and observability solutions covering application health, performance, availability, security, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spending.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation based on metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Assess and reduce technical risks while improving reliability and root-cause analysis.
  • Configure applications and infrastructure to satisfy DoD cybersecurity requirements and applicable STIGs.
  • Embed security controls and compliance monitoring into CI/CD pipelines and production environments.
  • Evaluate cloud usage and implement rightsizing, idle-resource, storage, compute, and FinOps improvements.
  • Oversee enterprise certificate provisioning, renewal, rotation, and expiration monitoring.
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum activities and demonstrate completed capabilities to stakeholders.
  • Work with distributed teams, customers, and stakeholders while communicating technical status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership and maintain engineering and operational documentation.

Requirements

  • Work fully onsite in Washington, DC.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Maintain a current Security+ certification or a higher or equivalent credential meeting DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher requirements.
  • Have a relevant technical bachelor's degree and 8–12 years of relevant experience, or a relevant technical master's degree and 6–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Develop software in Agile environments and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Use distributed version-control systems such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Develop software on Linux platforms.
  • Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts in practice.
  • Manage multiple priorities, self-assign work, and contribute effectively to a geographically distributed team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, organization, documentation, and leadership abilities.
  • Communicate technical status and present information to customers and program leadership.
  • Be willing and able to complete and maintain additional customer suitability screenings throughout employment.
  • Preferred experience includes the full software development lifecycle and work with Python, Java, SQL, JSON/REST, JavaScript, AWS, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Atlassian tools, Agile/Scrum, API integrations, software design documentation, code reviews, and DoD security environments.
