Senior DevOps Engineer — London Hybrid

Lead secure, scalable AWS infrastructure for Xelix’s AI-powered financial controls platform. Build and operate Terraform, CI/CD, database, MLOps, observability, and incident-response systems.

Description

  • Design, build, and run AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Manage container orchestration across ECS and EKS.
  • Own and evolve the Terraform infrastructure-as-code estate.
  • Develop and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
  • Operate and optimize production RDS and Aurora databases, covering performance, backups, migrations, partitioning, and scaling.
  • Support the deployment and production operation of machine learning workloads.
  • Keep ML infrastructure reliable, observable, and cost-efficient.
  • Use Python to create automation, tooling, and infrastructure integrations.
  • Advance DevSecOps practices through security controls, secrets management, least-privilege access, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident-response capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and help shape architecture decisions and technical standards.
  • Join the on-call rotation and take ownership of production incidents.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience owning business-critical production systems is preferred.
  • Strong Python proficiency.
  • Extensive hands-on AWS experience, including ECS and EKS.
  • Expert Terraform capability is essential.
  • Solid database operations experience, ideally with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS or Aurora.
  • Experience tuning performance, managing migrations and backups, and scaling large or high-throughput databases.
  • Practical experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
  • Experience integrating security practices, secrets management, and compliance controls into infrastructure and delivery pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability across Linux, networking, and distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering, data, and security stakeholders.
  • Must be based in or able to commute to London.
  • Able to work from the office several days each week.
