Senior DevOps Engineer (Hybrid, London)

Lead Azure, Kubernetes and CI/CD infrastructure for XYZ Reality’s construction augmented-reality platform. Enhance reliability, security, scalability and developer self-service across the engineering environment.

Description

  • Own the architecture, maintenance and evolution of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform, ARM templates and Helm
  • Design and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Implement observability across monitoring, logging, alerting and distributed tracing
  • Increase platform reliability, scalability and performance through capacity planning, autoscaling and resource optimisation
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup and failover capabilities
  • Improve infrastructure security through network policies, secrets management and platform hardening
  • Define and enhance incident response procedures, on-call operations, runbooks and blameless post-mortems
  • Help the Data team operate reliable, scalable PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments
  • Create self-service tools, reusable templates and supporting documentation
  • Maintain infrastructure for data pipelines and AI/ML model deployment
  • Work with developers on deployments, troubleshooting and infrastructure practices
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Data and Security teams to deliver dependable, scalable infrastructure
  • Streamline developer workflows for deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting

Requirements

  • Proven, in-depth experience in DevOps, infrastructure or cloud engineering
  • Strong practical experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Advanced Kubernetes experience covering cluster design, networking, storage, upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Substantial infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, ARM templates or an equivalent tool
  • Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions
  • Strong experience working with containers and Docker
  • Experience delivering monitoring, logging, alerting and observability for production systems
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure security, including network segmentation, encryption, secrets management and audit logging
  • Experience developing automation and tooling with Python, Go, Bash or TypeScript
  • Strong diagnostic skills and a record of taking ownership of production infrastructure and incidents
  • Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and communicate infrastructure trade-offs clearly
  • Transferable AWS or GCP experience may be relevant
  • Bonus experience includes highly available infrastructure, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, AI/ML infrastructure, ETL or data pipelines, FinOps, or SOC 2/ISO 27001 environments
