Senior DevOps Engineer at Bitsight — Remote, United States

Senior DevOps Engineer responsible for scaling Bitsight’s SaaS cyber-risk infrastructure using Linux, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and Terraform. The role advances AI-assisted automation, platform reliability, security, and efficient infrastructure delivery.

Description

  • Run, scale, and troubleshoot Bitsight’s SaaS cloud infrastructure with an emphasis on reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Provide occasional availability outside standard hours for production incidents and maintenance.
  • Design complex system-level solutions spanning multiple components.
  • Identify and address localized performance and scalability risks.
  • Develop self-optimizing infrastructure and use AI to accelerate feature delivery.
  • Manually test AI-assisted infrastructure automation and validate it in staging before production release.
  • Track the costs and return on investment of AI-powered systems.
  • Decompose complex challenges into efficient, parallel work streams.
  • Develop inventive solutions and facilitate design-focused discussions.
  • Offer technical guidance that influences multiple teams.
  • Establish and promote infrastructure best practices across the organization.
  • Champion thorough, high-quality documentation.
  • Mentor early-career senior engineers in system design.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working as a DevOps or Operations Engineer in a SaaS environment.
  • Extensive Linux systems experience, preferably with Ubuntu, Debian, or CentOS.
  • Ability to write automation scripts in Bash and Python.
  • Advanced experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with leading cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Strong command of infrastructure-as-code practices and tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency using AI tools to accelerate infrastructure delivery.
  • Understanding of how to safely validate, govern, and measure AI-assisted automation ROI.
  • Ability to identify the customer’s intended outcome and apply empirical data to decisions.
  • Action-oriented, accountable, and proactive in communicating project status, risks, and milestones.
  • Collaborative and well-organized working style.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and GitLab is preferred.
  • Experience with Chef and Ansible for configuration management is preferred.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, JSM, Datadog, Sumo Logic, ELK, and Groundcover is preferred.
  • Understanding of network engineering and security fundamentals, including Internet protocols, firewalls, and routing, is preferred.
