Onsite Project Engineer – Facilities and Packaging | McCormick
Lead facility, utilities, packaging, and manufacturing capital projects at McCormick’s Zatarain’s plant. Drive implementation, compliance, reliability improvements, and cross-functional engineering execution.
Description
- Oversee multiple high-value capital projects from initial evaluation through implementation
- Lead facility-focused projects and support maintenance for air compressors, HVAC, buildings and grounds, electrical systems, and plumbing
- Partner with manufacturing and maintenance teams to design, develop, purchase, install, commission, start up, operate, maintain, and improve facilities, support systems, and packaging equipment
- Deliver technical support and track improvement outcomes until they remain sustained for at least 90 days
- Lead and contribute to facility improvement work, SMED initiatives, packaging systems analysis, spare-parts processes, and systems optimization
- Take part in daily management routines and plant-wide communication meetings
- Prepare final CAAPs, develop project plans, obtain funding and approvals, oversee implementation, complete post-installation audits, reconcile financial metrics, and communicate lessons learned
- Coordinate facility equipment selection, design, and layout to improve efficiency, reliability, space utilization, and production capacity
- Initiate facility design modifications and changes to optimize operations
- Support packaging redesigns, cost-reduction initiatives, and expansions of existing equipment capabilities
- Ensure projects achieve vertical start-ups
- Provide technical direction to cross-functional project teams
- Develop team technical capability through coaching and mentoring
- Advance focused improvement initiatives, technology upgrades, and innovative solutions
- Oversee environmental reporting and improvement initiatives
- Work with government and regulatory agencies and lead facility compliance projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- At least five years of technical experience in a multidisciplinary environment
- Experience improving facilities, processes, supply chains, packaging, control systems, and plant utilities
- Experience in GMP food manufacturing
- Experience working with packaging machinery
- Demonstrated success delivering multiple projects concurrently
- Experience managing significant cash flow
