Senior Data Engineer, Professional Services - Washington, DC Onsite

Senior Data Engineer delivering Java-based enterprise data engineering solutions for Hitachi Federal customers. Lead onsite professional services engagements, integrations, architecture, and technical delivery.

Description

  • Own technical delivery for complex professional services engagements from initial design through implementation.
  • Design enterprise-scale data engineering solutions that satisfy customer business and technical requirements.
  • Lead customer architecture workshops, technical planning sessions, and solution reviews.
  • Convert customer business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point throughout project delivery.
  • Deliver enterprise data engineering, data integration, and object storage solutions.
  • Work with Project Managers to keep projects on schedule, within scope, and aligned with customer expectations.
  • Review statements of work, technical designs, delivery checklists, and implementation plans.
  • Create customer-facing architecture documentation, implementation guides, and technical deliverables.
  • Report project status and technical risks to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Design and build Java applications, APIs, integrations, and automation solutions.
  • Create reusable software components, plugins, and integration frameworks.
  • Design scalable enterprise data pipelines and orchestration workflows.
  • Implement RESTful API integrations across enterprise systems.
  • Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Diagnose complex issues across enterprise software and infrastructure.
  • Learn and deliver new Hitachi Federal service offerings.
  • Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives and technology evaluations.
  • Establish repeatable implementation methods and engineering best practices.
  • Support internal lab development and service innovation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across Professional Services.
  • Work with Sales Engineers on customer pursuits and technical presentations.
  • Collaborate with Product, Support, and Engineering to resolve complex customer issues.
  • Promote knowledge sharing through documentation, training, and peer mentoring.
  • Build trusted customer relationships through technical credibility and effective engagement.

Requirements

  • An active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in enterprise software engineering, data engineering, or professional services consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical implementation projects in enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures and integrations.
  • Strong customer-facing consulting and communication abilities.
  • Ability to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Expertise in several of the following: Java, multithreaded programming, REST APIs, JAX-WS, XML, JSON, SQL, Bash scripting, enterprise object storage, data migration, enterprise data integration, data orchestration, API integrations, Linux, Git, Maven, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Apache Spark, Solr, SDLC, object-oriented design, design patterns, CI/CD, and configuration management.
  • Preferred experience includes Hitachi Content Platform, Hitachi Content Intelligence, AI and machine learning data pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, AWS or Azure, Terraform, Microsoft Graph APIs, SharePoint integrations, Exchange integrations, and Microsoft Work Folder Server APIs.
  • Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it.
