Senior Contract Manager - Canada Remote | GE Vernova

Lead contract strategy, commercial risk, claims and negotiations for GE Vernova’s Canadian hydroelectric projects. Manage contractual matters from bidding through execution, close-out and warranty.

Description

  • Lead contract strategy for major Canadian hydroelectric projects from bidding through execution, close-out and warranty
  • Protect GE Vernova’s commercial interests through contract execution, risk mitigation and opportunity development
  • Partner with project leaders on changes, claims, customer and supplier interfaces, and commercial decisions
  • Oversee contractual matters throughout assigned projects from bid preparation to warranty completion
  • Draft, review and adapt commercial clauses to project needs and contractual requirements
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, amendments and commercial agreements with customers, partners, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure project teams understand and fulfill their contractual obligations
  • Prepare notices, amendments, change submissions, claims and related contractual communications
  • Review contracts for risks, opportunities, deviations and critical watchpoints
  • Create, maintain and enhance contract management plans
  • Lead change, claims, dispute avoidance and resolution strategies with project leaders and Legal
  • Transfer applicable contractual requirements into supplier and subcontractor agreements
  • Oversee contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes and insurance matters
  • Work with project, commercial, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, finance, sourcing and other internal teams
  • Advise stakeholders on contractual matters and support business decisions
  • Monitor contractual commitments and communicate requirements across projects
  • Contribute to risk and opportunity reviews and advance mitigation and opportunity-capture plans
  • Deliver contractual risk assessments and updates through governance processes
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and partners
  • Coach and mentor less experienced contract management professionals
  • Monitor compliance with contract terms and record deviations
  • Keep contractual records and key decisions traceable
  • Coordinate significant claims with Legal and recommend solutions for complex matters
  • Define procedures for correspondence, notices, insurance, delays, variations and claims records
  • Keep contractual records and supporting documentation complete and current
  • Create tracking tools for obligations, milestones and contractual events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, quantity surveying, business, finance, law or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of contract management experience in complex project settings such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy or major industrial sectors
  • Proven ability to compile, structure, negotiate and draft complex, high-value amendments, changes and claims
  • Strong understanding of how project costs, margins, risks, opportunities and cash impact connect with contract management
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Canada as needed
  • Experience in hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure or complex industrial projects preferred
  • Strong background managing turnkey or EPC projects preferred
  • Experience with major equipment supply, installation, consortium or other complex delivery models preferred
  • Experience serving Canadian utility, public-sector or major institutional customers preferred
  • Experience managing substantial claims, dispute avoidance or dispute matters preferred
  • French-language capability preferred
  • Leadership capability and interest in future functional leadership opportunities preferred
  • Strong commercial judgment and business acumen
