Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Foundations

Build and scale AWS account, IAM, networking, Terraform, and governance foundations for Lambda’s AI cloud. Enable secure, observable, self-service infrastructure across the organization.

Description

  • Lead and improve the Terraform and Atlantis infrastructure-as-code execution platform
  • Design and operate Lambda’s cloud account, access, and IAM architecture
  • Manage the cloud networking foundation, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, and DNS
  • Advance AWS governance through tagging standards, compliance guardrails, and cost visibility and accountability
  • Build least-privilege access controls and compliance automation
  • Automate access and provisioning through self-service capabilities
  • Help establish the new team’s responsibilities, priorities, and service boundaries
  • Take part in an on-call rotation
  • Maintain documentation, reliability, and observability for owned systems
  • Partner with Security, GRC, IT, and engineering teams that use the cloud foundation

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud platforms, cloud security engineering, or a closely related field
  • Extensive experience operating AWS at scale, including multi-account organizations, IAM, permission boundaries, SCPs, and resource organization
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code expertise, particularly with Terraform modules, state management, and automated plan/apply workflows
  • Sound cloud networking knowledge covering VPC design, transit and hybrid connectivity, DNS, and edge/CDN configuration
  • Ability to develop automation and tooling in Go and/or Python
  • Use AI tools routinely, while reviewing, verifying, and taking ownership of their output
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and clarifying ownership
  • Ability to create solutions that can be reused broadly
  • Ability to investigate underlying problems and ask why
  • Ability to monitor, measure, and improve systems after deployment
  • Strong attention to operational detail
  • Ability to work from a San Francisco, San Jose, or Bellevue office four days per week
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Preferred experience with agentic infrastructure or governance workflows, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls, cloud cost management or FinOps, and Azure, GCP, or OCI
