GIS Developer – Federal Land-Use Mapping

Develop geospatial applications and data workflows supporting federal land-use planning. Work with ArcGIS, Power BI, Azure Maps, Python, R, and SQL to improve mapping, automation, governance, and analysis.

Description

  • Enhance the existing land-use planning decision database
  • Convert the system into a more effective web mapping application
  • Improve data retrieval speed and usability within the existing IT infrastructure
  • Build interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI
  • Connect Power BI with ArcGIS to strengthen mapping and spatial analysis
  • Evaluate Azure Maps for geospatial application use
  • Create and maintain automated data and metadata workflows and batch processes using federal metadata tools, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Python, R, SQL, and other relevant management software
  • Analyze data processing and infrastructure across ArcGIS Server, SDE, and ArcGIS Portal to improve retrieval performance through ESRI Experience Applications
  • Enhance Power BI applications that provide access to geospatial analysis data and reports alongside ESRI Experience Applications
  • Support anticipated federal programs and client needs, with work arrangements and start dates determined by contract awards, onboarding, and client requirements

Requirements

  • Experience in a mid-to-senior technical role such as GIS Developer, GIS DevOps Specialist, Geospatial Application Developer, Geospatial Scripting and Programming Specialist, or a related position
  • Power BI administration and development expertise
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • Knowledge of metadata management and data governance
  • Experience integrating cloud platforms and Azure services
  • Database optimization and data architecture skills
  • Understanding of information security and compliance
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and training
  • Stakeholder engagement and customer support experience
  • Geospatial analysis and cartographic production skills
  • At least 5 years of application development experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience supporting federal land-use planning, environmental management, or natural resource programs preferred
  • Knowledge of federal geospatial policies, standards, and mission-support systems preferred
  • Experience with Azure Maps, including vector tiles, routing, geocoding, spatial operations, and cloud-based mapping services, plus familiarity with AI and emerging-technology guidance for federal environmental, planning, and geospatial programs preferred; these capabilities are preferred qualifications.
