Senior Analytics Engineer — New York City Hybrid

Description

  • Own analytics data products supporting internal business functions
  • Build and maintain reusable intermediate models, business-facing gold models, metrics, access controls, tests, documentation, and Lightdash guidance for agents
  • Convert stakeholder ideas into production data products by defining requirements, validating outcomes, and publishing deliverables
  • Align differing concepts across source systems by documenting mappings, unmatched records, assumptions, and quality checks
  • Manage end-to-end production changes across SQL, dbt tests, Lightdash metadata, access rules, content validation, and AI agent instructions
  • Investigate inaccurate or outdated results across data layers and collaborate with data engineering on issues below the serving layer
  • Review modeling updates, pair with teammates, and reinforce shared data standards
  • Partner with the Director of Data, data team, GTM, and Finance

Requirements

  • At least five years of analytics engineering experience or equivalent
  • Experience contributing to a production dbt project with tests, CI, incremental models, and documentation
  • Strong dimensional modeling skills, including conformed entities and facts defined at the appropriate grain
  • Experience delivering a metrics or semantic layer for people and tools
  • Ability to implement secure access controls for sensitive data
  • Regular experience with AI coding agents, including verifying their output and recognizing when they should not be used
  • Advanced SQL proficiency
  • Sufficient Python experience to understand existing pipelines and create transformation tasks
  • Clear technical writing skills for documenting models and metric definitions
  • Hands-on AI experience and the ability to explain tools, workflows, and results
  • Legally authorized to work full time in the United States
  • Based in New York City
