Senior Accounting Manager

Lead accounting, US GAAP investment accounting, reporting, and treasury operations for Nuveen’s global asset management business. Manage accounting professionals while strengthening controls, analytics, and operational processes.

Description

  • Lead a team of professional accounting employees
  • Direct financial recordkeeping, reporting, treasury operations, and accounting activities
  • Collaborate with asset management, portfolio management, and acquisition and disposition teams
  • Manage month-end close reporting and quarterly financial analysis
  • Prepare accurate, timely US GAAP workpapers and supporting schedules for investment accounting and audits
  • Coordinate daily general accounting activities for direct reports
  • Supervise reconciliations for balance sheet, profit and loss, and bank accounts
  • Review financial statements, cash flow reports, and budget reports
  • Work with internal and external auditors and financial professionals
  • Lead system upgrades, process enhancements, new product implementations, and asset management initiatives
  • Maintain investment accounting policies, procedures, and control frameworks
  • Evaluate team performance through ongoing feedback and formal reviews

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in controls, audit, accounting, or finance
  • A university degree is preferred
  • At least seven years of experience in controls, audit, accounting, or finance is preferred
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of loan accounting standards and procedures is preferred
  • Experience with Oracle and/or NetSuite accounting systems
  • Ability to use data and analytics tools such as Alteryx, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable platforms
  • Ability to extract, process, and interpret complex accounting and financial data
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, accounting standards, compliance, and financial analysis
  • Ability to perform sedentary work
