Renewable Performance Engineer Remote United States

Assess solar and battery energy performance for Sargent & Lundy’s consulting clients. Support due diligence, project financing, and technical optimization for renewable energy projects.

Description

  • Assess solar resources with satellite and ground-based data
  • Analyze solar project production, performance, and climate data
  • Model, review, and optimize solar, wind, and battery storage projects
  • Complete long-term solar PV production assessments with PVsyst and Excel post-processing
  • Support solar assessments across utility-scale, residential, commercial, and industrial projects
  • Forecast renewable energy production
  • Perform P90, P95, and P99 uncertainty analyses
  • Conduct statistical uncertainty studies and clipping-adjusted degradation analyses
  • Help improve and validate energy yield assessment processes
  • Contribute to technical due diligence reports and present findings to clients, developers, financiers, and other stakeholders
  • Apply PV modeling assumptions and inputs to simulations
  • Respond to client questions about solar resources and energy yield
  • Support independent engineering and technical due diligence for financing and asset acquisition
  • Assess solar equipment options and technologies
  • Evaluate EPC contractors’ project execution plans
  • Review PPA, EPC, and O&M agreements
  • Assess CAPEX, OPEX, and performance assumptions in financial models
  • Prepare and review reports, studies, calculations, and other engineering deliverables
  • Work with teammates to establish project execution plans
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality standards
  • Work with clients to clarify needs and confirm successful project delivery
  • Prepare proposals for prospective business development opportunities
  • Travel occasionally to project sites and client offices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related discipline
  • At least three years of experience in the energy industry
  • Thorough knowledge of solar resource assessment and energy yield prediction methods
  • Experience designing utility-scale solar projects, providing renewable energy consulting, performing renewable due diligence, conducting uncertainty and statistical analyses, or working in related areas
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project execution and finance
  • Experience with statistical modeling and data analytics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience preparing technical reports and proposals
  • Experience applying AI technologies to process improvement initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and guide others
  • Project planning and leadership abilities
  • Must not require sponsorship for U.S. work authorization
