Remote Mobile Engineering Manager

Lead Human Interest’s mobile engineering function for its retirement-savings platform. Build the team and establish architecture, release operations, quality assurance, and observability practices.

Description

  • Hire at least three experienced mobile engineers.
  • Grow and lead a high-performing team spanning iOS, Android, and cross-platform development.
  • Set mobile product roadmaps for employee-facing and company-administration experiences.
  • Guide decisions on mobile architecture, device fragmentation, and AI-supported engineering tools.
  • Manage release engineering, pipelines, build approvals, staged App Store and Google Play deployments, feature flags, automated pull-request testing, and cross-device quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with product, UX, operations, and backend partners on API contracts, backend-driven interfaces, security measures, and release timelines.
  • Implement and operate mobile observability with tools such as Braze, Sentry, or Datadog.
  • Coach engineers and establish mobile development standards covering architecture, pipelines, releases, QA infrastructure, and telemetry.
  • Be accountable for app-store ratings, crash-free sessions, release governance, and dependable app delivery.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience managing software engineering teams, particularly those delivering mobile applications.
  • Demonstrated success releasing production iOS, Android, or cross-platform applications built with React Native, Flutter, or Kotlin Multiplatform through multiple app-store cycles.
  • Practical experience with mobile release operations, app-store submission requirements, and feature-flag systems.
  • Strong mobile engineering expertise with Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Flutter, or Kotlin Multiplatform.
  • Knowledge of mobile architecture trade-offs, device farms, automated UI testing with XCUITest, Espresso, or Appium, client telemetry, and API contract design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring capability, and experience building healthy, inclusive teams.
  • Effective collaboration across product and technical functions.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
