QuickBooks-Certified Bookkeeper (Remote, South Africa)
Manage client books and financial reviews as a QuickBooks-certified bookkeeper supporting MainStreet’s integrated accounting, HR, and hiring platform. Work remotely with small business owners during North American business hours.
Description
- Categorize transactions accurately, reconcile accounts, and keep ledgers organized
- Investigate and correct financial discrepancies
- Complete monthly reviews to keep client books accurate and current
- Act as the primary contact for small business owner clients
- Communicate with clients through chat, email, and phone
- Present financial information in a clear, empathetic manner
- Anticipate and address client concerns proactively
- Manage the client relationship throughout the full service lifecycle
- Coordinate with internal teams through Salesforce and Slack
Requirements
- Active QuickBooks Online certification is required
- At least three years of experience in bookkeeping, auditing, or tax preparation
- At least one year of customer-facing or client service experience, preferably with U.S.-based clients
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- A strong customer service orientation
- Practical experience working with QuickBooks Online
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound problem-solving ability, and a proactive working style
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Residence in the Johannesburg area
- Availability during North American business hours, from 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific Time
- Ability to satisfy Bench’s minimum hardware and internet standards
