Production Software Engineer – GBST (Hybrid, UK)

Support GBST’s wealth management platforms as a Production Software Engineer. Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and strengthen the reliability of enterprise applications.

Description

  • Maintain live client environments supporting GBST’s wealth management platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production incidents across client environments
  • Conduct root cause analysis and deliver detailed technical findings to development teams
  • Review application, infrastructure, and integration logs to uncover system faults and performance constraints
  • Assist with software releases, upgrades, and client testing, including user acceptance testing
  • Work with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to deliver timely resolutions
  • Help improve system reliability, monitoring, and operational support processes
  • Take part in incident response and out-of-hours support when required

Requirements

  • A relevant technical qualification is preferred
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications in production support, application support, or software engineering
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Professional experience with Java-based enterprise applications
  • Advanced SQL skills for data analysis, reporting, and data-correction scripts
  • Experience interpreting application logs and diagnosing application or integration problems
  • Understanding of APIs, web services, and system integrations
  • Experience in cloud environments, preferably AWS
  • Strong communication skills with experience working directly with clients and stakeholders
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, and AWS MQ is desirable
  • Experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate is desirable
  • Experience with SOAP and REST web services using XML and JSON is desirable
  • Experience with JBoss and WebSphere application servers is desirable
  • Experience with SQL Server and stored procedures is desirable
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is desirable
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methods is desirable
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform is desirable
  • Experience with CloudWatch, Grafana, and Prometheus is desirable
  • Experience with RabbitMQ and AMQP is desirable
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol and financial markets or trading platforms is desirable
