Description

  • Perform pilot and controller roles in an air traffic controller training simulator
  • Operate simulated radar displays and voice communication systems
  • Recreate pilot actions and remote ATC facility communications during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises
  • Receive voice instructions from student controllers
  • Record the required actions in the automated system to reproduce pilot activity
  • Convert displayed information into accurate air traffic control terminology
  • Answer students through the Voice Communication System using appropriate phraseology
  • Earn Classroom certification by passing an assessment on airspace and procedures
  • Earn Lab certification by operating as a Remote Pilot Operator in every position
  • Contribute to FAA air traffic controller training services at the Fairbanks ATCT/TRACON facility

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals
  • Clear, understandable verbal communication
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust clearance
  • Multidisciplinary teamwork experience preferred
  • ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab experience and certification strongly preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 strongly preferred but not required
  • Effective team-building abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Basic familiarity with current technology such as tablets, notebooks, and applications
  • Basic familiarity with or experience in pilot-controller communications or phraseology
