Operations Specialist – Devils Lake, North Dakota
Support CHS Inc.’s agricultural facility operations in Devils Lake across elevators, fertilizer, equipment, inventory, and customer service. Help maintain safe, efficient site performance through equipment operation, product handling, deliveries, and facility upkeep.
Description
- Complete assigned general labor tasks efficiently under general supervision
- Build working knowledge of handled commodities while following company policies and government regulations
- Provide customers with courteous, professional service
- Prepare trucks and railcars for loading and unloading by sampling, loosening nuts, opening hatches, and connecting or disconnecting flexible hoses
- Handle agricultural inputs with heavy- and light-duty machinery and equipment
- Operate and monitor load-out processes
- Use automated scale and dump systems
- Document maintenance activities and lubricate pumps, valves, and loading arms
- Check equipment for seeps and leaks
- Monitor inventory condition and maintain product quality
- Deliver fertilizer, chemicals, seed, feed, and other products to customer locations
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe through sweeping, shoveling, power washing, scraping, spill cleanup, and record keeping
- Maintain facility grounds, including snow removal
- Complete warehouse duties such as operating loaders and forklifts, loading and unloading inventory, and performing general maintenance
- Escalate customer complaints, repair or maintenance requirements, and safety issues to the supervisor
- Support a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and correcting or reporting unsafe conditions
- Take on additional duties as needed to support smooth facility operations and high-quality customer service
Requirements
- Meet the applicable minimum age requirement
- Bring at least one year of experience in operations and/or business operations
- Be able to operate loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobiles
- Be available to work extended hours during peak seasons
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- CDL license or the ability to obtain one with a Hazmat endorsement preferred
- Agricultural experience preferred
- Forklift certification preferred
- Selected candidates may need to complete pre-employment checks, including drug, criminal, motor vehicle, physical requirements, and/or FMCSA Clearinghouse screening
- Be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Be able to climb railcars, ladders, stairs, and bins
- Be able to work in dusty environments and adverse weather conditions and temperatures
