Operations and Conversion Manager — Mesa, AZ

Lead facility operations, event services, and venue conversions at Mesa Convention Center and Amphitheater. Support conventions, concerts, festivals, and community events while coordinating teams, vendors, and event readiness.

Description

  • Oversee daily facility operations, event services, and venue conversions across Mesa Convention Center and Amphitheater
  • Support the Director of Operations across Engineering, Building & Grounds, Technical Services, Event Services, Public Safety, Security, Custodial, and Parking
  • Coordinate operations with internal teams, clients, promoters, contractors, and third-party vendors
  • Prepare event spaces, meeting rooms, exhibit halls, outdoor areas, and amphitheater facilities for use
  • Act as Manager on Duty during events, providing leadership, operational decisions, and issue resolution
  • Identify potential operational problems and implement solutions that reduce disruption
  • Coordinate departmental communication around event requirements and operating plans
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, life safety standards, ADA requirements, and facility policies
  • Lead and participate in event setups, room turnovers, changeovers, and venue conversions
  • Confirm equipment, materials, and other resources are available for setup and breakdown activities
  • Coordinate the movement, storage, loading, and unloading of event equipment, furnishings, staging, and client materials
  • Read and apply event layouts, CAD drawings, diagrams, and setup instructions
  • Oversee the installation and removal of seating layouts, staging, risers, platforms, scaffolding, and related infrastructure
  • Operate and supervise the safe use of forklifts, pallet jacks, riding scrubbers, and other facility equipment
  • Keep setup areas and storage locations organized, clean, and ready

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in facility management, business administration, engineering, event management, or a related field is preferred
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in venue operations, event services, event conversions, facility management, convention centers, arenas, amphitheaters, stadiums, or comparable settings
  • One to three or more years of supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred
  • Experience supporting large-scale events, conventions, concerts, festivals, and multi-day programs
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, staging systems, and related facility equipment is preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Strong organization, planning, and project management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff
  • Strong customer service focus with effective problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of facility operations, event conversions, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and facility management systems is preferred
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with close attention to detail
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Availability for flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts
  • This is a site-based role in Mesa, Arizona
